The climate of Andorra
The small state of Andorra is situated in the Pyrenees, between Spain and France. Officially Andorra has a moderate sea climate. However, because Andorra is situated at an altitude of 2000 meters according to the Köppen climate classification Andorra has a high mountain climate. Because Andorra is situated in the Pyrenees depressions may linger for longer period which may result in gray skies and rain for days. The altitude of Andorra is responsible for cold winters. During the winter snow fall is not uncommon. When the ground is covered with snow nighttimes may get cold. In the highest regions the snow doesn’t melt till summer. Because of the mountains and the snow Andorra is ideal for winter sports.

Summer
Summers are reasonably wet and not too warm. Because of the altitude temperatures of 20 degrees or above are uncommon during the summer. Nighttimes are not too warm either; temperatures almost always drop below 10 degrees Celsius. If you want to travel to Andorra during the summer you need to bear in mind that warm weather is not guaranteed. However, the moderate temperatures are ideal for walking. Andorra’s summers are ideal for all kinds of outdoor sports.
