The climate of Córdoba (Argentina)
Córdoba is situated slightly north of central Argentina in the foothills the Sierras Chicas mountain range and on the banks of the Suquía River. Córdoba is the second largest city in Argentina. It also is the capital of the Córdoba province. Córdoba is known all over the world for its universities. Each year many students come here to study at one of the universities during one or several years. The city is in an elevated location because it is situated in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas mountain range; 450 meters on average. Córdoba has a moderate climate which is influenced by the Sierras Chicas mountain range. Despite its northern location Córdoba has cold winters. Subzero temperatures are not uncommon then. Summers are humid with warm days and cold nights. Snowfall is uncommon. During the winter temperatures may rise because of a Zonda wind which is the local name for a wind that supplies warm air from the other side of the mountains. In the city centre temperatures may rise during warm and humid days because of heavy smog.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
