The climate of Ballarat (Australia)
Ballarat is an ancient gold diggers town. The city is mostly known for its many historical sights. Sovereign Hill is adjacent to the city. This is an open air museum which shows the life of the early gold diggers in an attractive way. The city itself is quite nice. With its many Victorian buildings it looks like an open air museum. There actually are quite a lot of museums in Ballarat. One can find the Gold museum and the Aviation museum here. There also are a lot of historical memorials to be found. Honour Avenue runs through the city. With every tree along its way a WW1 soldier is commemorated.
Ballarat has four distinct seasons. In August most rain falls. On average it rains about 200 times a year. Because Ballarat is located at 435 meters high the average temperature is about 4 degrees Celsius lower than elsewhere in Victoria. During winter months longer periods of frost are not uncommon. Snow is not uncommon either. The lowest temperature in Ballarat on record is 6 degrees Celsius below zero.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
