The climate of Lankaran (Azerbaijan)
Lankaran is located in the south eastern part of Azerbaijan in the Lankaran district on the Caspian Sea. Several sand beaches can be found along the coast here. Both local residents and the few tourists that travel to Azerbaijan often go here. This is also because of the airport that is in the vicinity. The 18th century Lankaran fortress is certainly a place worth seeing.
Lankaran has a steppe climate with dry periods all year round. However, during a few months precipitation figures are much higher. The autumn is the wettest period. Summers are pleasantly warm and relatively dry. Because of the constant sea wind that comes from the Caspian Sea the climate is much more pleasant than you would expect. Winters can be cold and subzero temperatures are not uncommon. However, during the winter periods with mild weather are not uncommon. Because of this the climate figures may be higher for a few weeks than the average climate figures.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
