The climate of Khulna (Bangladesh)
Khulna is one of the largest cities in Bangladesh. It is situated in the Khulna district on the banks of the Rupsha River and the Bhairab River. The city is situated in one of the biggest river deltas on earth. The mangroves at the beginning of this delta are very special. The Sundarban forests are a protected national park; many nature enthusiasts visit this park every year. Many species of fish live in the river delta; a large part of the fish that is exported was caught in this delta. Especially shrimps are caught by the locals, but also lobster and crab.
Khulna has tropical monsoon climate. This type of climate is characterized by a distinct rainy and a dry period. Most of the rain falls from May till September. However, precipitation figures are much lower than in areas with a monsoon climate. Temperatures are warm all year round. During the rainy period temperatures may rise a few degrees.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
