The climate of Ghent (Belgium)
Ghent is a very cosy and charming city in Flanders. It invites you to take nice strolls through the historic streets. Ghent has always been a very important city in the Low Countries. Charles V was born here and many (peace) treaties were signed in Ghent. Because it is located at the confluence of the rivers Scheldt and Leie Ghent was an important trading center during the Middle Ages. The city still breathes this history. Many cafés and restaurants can be found here where you can enjoy the Belgian cuisine. If you want to party you should visit Ghent during the Ghent festival. This annual summer festival offers street theater, music and coziness. Ghent has a moderate rainy climate strongly influenced by a warm Atlantic current. The least amount of rain falls during spring. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean it will be completely dry during your stay. Summers are reasonably sunny with temperatures of 19 degrees Celsius on average.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
