The climate of Liège (Belgium)
Liège is an industrial town on the foot of the Ardennes. From a distance the city looks very gray. However, the closer you get the more you will discover: it has very nice small streets and cosy shops. The oldest shopping mall in Belgium is located here: the Passage Lemmonnier. Beneath the church you can listen to street musicians. On every corner you can find a coffee house or a praline shop. Because of the differences in altitude in Liège there are several streets consisting only of stairways. It feels like being in Montmartre, Paris. The citadel towers high above the city. A beautiful park with several cafés and restaurants surrounds the citadel. Of course you can enjoy the famous Liège waffles here. Liège has a sea climate with mild winters and warm summers. Because of its high altitude temperatures in Liège are lower and there is more rainfall than in other places in Belgium. During winter precipitation figures are also higher; this usually means snowfall.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
