The climate of Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Zenica is a medium-sized city, centrally located in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the banks of the river Bosna and is the capital of the Zenica-Doboj Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city has an important industrial role; many steel factories can be found here. However, these factories also cause a lot of pollution. The present brown coal mines also contribute to this. Over the past few years there were more and more protests against pollution. This resulted in the opening of Vranduk National Park. Zenica has a moderate sea climate with pleasant summers and mild winters. The climate is strongly influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Because of this extremes in weather are uncommon. This is also caused by the protection of the Dinaric Alps.
