The climate of Florianopolis (Brazil)
Florianopolis or Floripa is located in the southern part of Brazil and is the capital of the state of Santa Catharina. Florianopolis is situated on the island of Santa Catharina and is connected with the mainland by three large bridges. Several mountains that are completely overgrown with tropical forests can be found on the island. Here you can enjoy beautiful lagoons, waterfalls and lakes. In the center of the island Lagoa da Conceicão can be found. This is a popular holiday destination, also because 42 beaches can be found here. The tourist industry is the main source of income for this city. Florianopolis is also very popular among wind surfers and kite surfers. Florianopolis has a tropical climate. during the warmest months temperatures are between 26-31 degrees Celsius on average. During the coldest months minimum temperatures are between 7-12 degrees Celsius on average. The lowest temperature on record is -2 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature on record is 39 degrees Celsius. Subzero temperatures are uncommon; however, it may occur during winter. Florianopolis gets 1,521 millimeters of rain per year. Heavy rainfall may occur from January till March with 160 millimeters of rain per month. From April till December the city gets about 100 millimeters of rain per month. The driest months are June, July and August.
