The climate of Macapá (Brazil)
Macapá is located in the north eastern part of Brazil and is the capital of the state of Amapá. The city is situated precisely on the equator; the Marco Zero monument was built to mark the equatorial line. The main source of income comes from Gold, iron and tin mines. After Macapá there are no more roads so if you would like to travel further south you should do so by plane or boat. Macapá is part of the Amazon and its climate is influenced by the Amazon River.
Macapá has a tropical rainforest climate. There is much rainfall throughout the year without a real dry period. However, October and November are a little less wet than the rest of the year. Temperatures are reasonably constant all year round. However, peaks of 40 degrees Celsius or even above are not uncommon. Humidity figures may be high because of the presence of the Amazon River.
