The climate of Barranquilla (Colombia)
Barranquilla is located in the northern part of Columbia on the coast.
The city is located in the vicinity of marshlands which are situated
off the coast. The city is located next to the delta of the
Magdalena River which flows into the Caribbean Sea here. Because of
its location Barranquilla is an important port and industrial center
in Columbia. Especially for the trade with the Caribbean. Industry
really took off when railroads where constructed and navigation on
the river increased. The river is not only important to the
country’s economy, it is also ecologically very important. In the
vicinity of Barranquilla several national parks are situated. The
river and the delta are home to many bird and fish species as well
as amphibians. Barranquilla has a tropical savannah climate. Both
temperatures and humidity figures are fairly high all year round.
From November until April trade winds somewhat temper temperatures.
At the end of May the rainy season starts, it has its peak in
September and October.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
