The climate of the Isle of Anjouan (Comoros)
Anjouan is an island in the Indian Ocean which, together with Grande Comore, Mohéli and Mayotte, forms the archipelago of Grand Comoros. Anjouan has gone through turbulent times with many coups since the independence in 1975, this has come to an end since the interference of the African Union. The capital of the island is Mutsamudu. The island has got an airport of its own that can be reached via Reunion or Grande Comore. It is also possible by boat but that takes a little longer. The biggest town in the island is Domoni. In this town is one of the biggest mosques of the archipelago.
Anjouan has a tropical monsoon climate with most precipitation in the first six months of the year. On an average the least precipitation falls here during the summer months and there is one month just below the limit of 60 mm. The temperatures here are equal practically throughout the year and are about 26 to 27 degrees centigrade. During the wettest months of the year there is a high level of air humidity in the island.
