The climate of Nicosia (Cyprus)
Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus centrally located on the island on the banks of the Pedieos River. Nicosia is situated both in the Turkish and the Greek part of the country, making it one of the few divided capitals in the world. Because of this there is a UN buffer zone dividing the northern and southern parts of the city also known as the Green Line. Nicosia is also the largest city on the island. The New GSP Stadium can be found in Nicosia. This is the only stadium in Cyprus that meets UEFA regulations and is the home base for several clubs. Summers in Nicosia are hot and dry. Winters here are colder and wetter than in the coastal regions. In July and August temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius are not uncommon. During the summer precipitation figures are extremely low, rain almost only falls during the winter.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
