The climate of Playa Dorada (Dominican Republic)
Playa Dorada is the largest holiday village in the Dominican Republic. It is situated on the eastern side of Puerto Plata. Playa Dorado consists of 15 luxurious hotels that share a large beach. The airport is a 15 minutes drive away from Playa Dorado. This holiday paradise has been created by a number of project developers. By creating an isolated area for tourists this place is safe; they can enjoy a carefree holiday here. Next to the park an 18 holes golf course can be found. There are also three casinos and several discos and restaurants. You can enjoy one of the many activities the hotels offer. Those who want to enjoy a relaxed holiday are in the right place, too.
Just like almost all of the Dominican Republic Playa Dorado has a tropical savannah climate. This climate can be divided into two periods. A rainy period and a relatively dry period. The rainy period can be quite fierce with heavy showers. Because temperatures remain high humidity figures remain high as well. During the dry period temperatures are pleasant. This is the best time to visit Playa Dorado. During the summer, which coincides with the rainy period hurricanes and tropical depressions may occur.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
