The climate of Aswan (Egypt)
Aswan is located in the southern part of Egypt on the eastern banks of the river Nile just north of Lake Nasser. Aswan is located on the tropic of Cancer which means the sun rays are just overhead which means at right angles to the ground during the solstice. This causes the sun to have a vicious glare during the summer months. Temperatures easily reach 40 degrees Celsius or above (in the shade). The UV-index is very high so people with sensitive skin get sunburnt easily during the summer. Rainfall hardly ever occurs here. The only water here is the water flowing through the Nile.
