The climate of Avignon (France)
Avignon the historic town in the south of France knows a rich history. In the fourteenth century this town temporarily became the residence of the Pope. This famous inhabitant of course had inevitable effects on the town. The town is on the UNESCO world inheritance list and is, with its pontifical palace and famous bridge “sur le pont d ‘Avignon”, certainly worth visiting. The weather there is mild. The influence of the Mediterranean is still well noticeable here. In the winter the temperature hardly drops below zero and with a decent amount of sunny hours it is very warm there in the summer. Only when the mistral blows from the hinterland the cold can pass through the town. This is mostly in the winter.
