The climate of Magdeburg (Germany)
Magdeburg is a city located in former East Germany. The city was very powerful during the Holy Roman Empire. Because of many wars the old city was largely destroyed. The East German authorities have not restored the city. However, Magdeburg is looking towards the future. An increasing number of buildings in modern architecture are built. A good example is the green citadel by the architect Hundertwaser. This colorful apartment complex in the center is well worth visiting. The unconventional shapes and colors with grass and wild flowers on the roof make the building unique. Magdeburg has a moderate maritime climate with small differences between summer and winter. Because of the tempering effect of the sea extremes in weather are uncommon. However, the influence of the sea is not as big as in the Netherlands or Belgium. In general, summers are pleasantly warm without getting too hot and winters are mild. Very low temperatures are uncommon.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
