The climate of Munich (Germany)
Munich is the third largest city in Germany and the capital of the federal state of Bavaria. Typical German beer gardens and beer halls are situated in Munich. Here you can enjoy a real German beer. Munich is a real metropolis. Because Munich used to be home to the Royal Bavarian family many beautiful buildings, palaces and artworks can be admired in the city. It is very pleasant to spend your day in the Englisher Garten (English garden). Munich is also a good shopping city. Shops with all large brands are situated in the Maximilianstrasse. The annual Oktoberfest is also held here. This large beer festival attracts millions of visitors every year. Renting a car in Munich gives you complete freedom in transportation. It allows you to explore attractions anywhere in and around Munich without the difficulties of public transport.
Munich has a moderate maritime climate characterized by moderate temperatures during the summer and mild winters. The climate in the southern part of Germany is not as strongly influenced by the sea as in other regions in Germany. However, when an easterly wind blows temperatures may suddenly drop or rise. Precipitation figures may be high during fall and winter. Especially during fall heavy storms are not uncommon.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
