The climate of Schwerin (Germany)
Schwerin is located in the northeastern part of Germany and is the
capital of the federal state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, also known
as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Schwerin is located on Lake
Schwerin / Schweriner See which is a large glacier lake. Because of
its location on the lake and its beautiful castles and cathedrals
Schwerin has a fairy tale like atmosphere. Lake Schwerin is one of
the largest lakes in Germany and attracts many water sports
enthusiasts. The castle gardens are well worth visiting. A
remarkable amount of museums and theaters are situated in Schwerin.
Schwerin has a moderate maritime climate with cool summers and mild
winters. Extremes in weather are uncommon. During the summer average
temperatures are around 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).
During the winter average temperatures are just below freezing
