The climate of Thassos (Greece)
Thassos or Thasos is the most northerly located Greek island in the
Aegean Sea. Thassos is situated off the coast of Thracia. Because of
its northerly location it is a green island. The capital of this
island is Thassos-City, also known as Chora. The island has many
beaches. Paradisos, Makryammos and Chrissi Akti are among the most
popular. The honey which is produced on this island is among the best
in Greece. Thassos has a warm Mediterranean climate with warm and dry
summers and cold but pleasant winters. Winters are too cold and too
wet to make this island suitable as a winter sun destination. Summers
are pleasantly warm; slightly colder than the more southerly located
islands. However, during the hottest days of the year temperatures may
reach 40 degrees Celsius.
The figures below are based on long term weather and climate records.
They are an average for the entire island of Thassos.
Please, note that local deviations may occur
