The climate of Thassos (Greece)
Thassos or Thasos is the most northerly located Greek island in the Aegean Sea. Thassos is situated off the coast of Thracia. Because of its northerly location it is a green island. The capital of this island is Thassos-City, also known as Chora. The island has many beaches. Paradisos, Makryammos and Chrissi Akti are among the most popular. The honey which is produced on this island is among the best in Greece. Thassos has a warm Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and cold but pleasant winters. Winters are too cold and too wet to make this island suitable as a winter sun destination. Summers are pleasantly warm; slightly colder than the more southerly located islands. However, during the hottest days of the year temperatures may reach 40 degrees Celsius.
