The climate of Poovar (India)
Poovar is a little seaside resort in the federal state of Kerala. Due to the splendid nature and situation some beautiful resorts are located here. The little town is situated close to the natural port of Vizhinjam. Already early in history moslims used this place to trade. Therefore there is still a very old mosque.
The climate in Poovar is a monsoon climate. This climate is characterized by a distinct dry and rainy period. Due to its situation close to the equator and on the sea the temperature remains rather constant throughout the year. In the warm, dry summermonths the sea can alleviate the heat agreeably. Here the most rain falls in the months of May up to and including October. The larger part of the total amount of rain in Poovar comes down in that period.
