The climate of Zahedan (Iran)
Zahedan is located in the southeastern part of Iran in the Sistan and Belutshistan province of which it also is the capital. Zahedan is located in the vicinity of the tripoint of Iran Afghanistan and Pakistan. West of the city the Dasht-e Lut desert can be found. Zahedan is an old city. Its first records date back to the first century BC. Zahedan is a real student city with three universities and a population figure of about 500,000. Another source of income for the city is small industry. Zahedan has a desert climate which is slightly influenced by the Caspian Sea. Because of this influence winters are fairly mild and summers are not as hot as in other parts of the country. However, during the summer temperatures may still rise up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) during the hottest part of the day. Precipitation figures are low all year round as you would expect in a city with a desert climate. only during the colder winter months small quantities of rain may fall.

More climate information

The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
