The climate of Fukuoka (Japan)
Fukuoka is located on the west coast of Kyushu. The city is one of the oldest cities in Japan. The bay on which the city is located used to be the gateway to China and Korea. One of the oldest temples in Japan can be found in this city; the Shofukuji Temple. Ancient ruins belonging to the former fortress also can be visited. Shopping and entertainment can be found in Canal City. A huge shopping mall completely surrounded by water. This area often gets flooded because of constant rainfall all year round. Humidity figures are quite high in Fukuoka. According to the Köppen climate classification
Fukuoka has a maritime climate. This type of climate is characterized by minimal differences in weather between summer and winter. During the winter subzero temperatures are uncommon. Spring starts early here. From the beginning of April temperatures start to rise. Summer months are warm and clammy. Most of the rain falls during June and July. There is a risk of typhoons during August and September.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
