The climate of Nikko (Japan)
Nikko is located in the interior of the island of Honsu. The city is known as the gateway to the Nikko National Park. A unique Shino temple can be admired in this Park. Although most Shinto Temples are very sober in design this temple has extensive wood engravings. The temple is decorated with all kinds of images. Besides this beautiful Mausoleum several other temples can be found in this magnificent forest. The area around Nikko is famous for its beautiful deciduous forests which transform into an overwhelming explosion of colors during the autumn.
Nikko has a moderate sea climate. High humidity figures are responsible for flourishing vegetation. During the winter subzero temperatures are uncommon. Summers are warm and damp. During the autumn there is a risk of tropical storms or typhoons.
