The climate of Wajir (Kenya)
Wajir is a city in the northeastern province of Kenya in the northeastern district. Wajir has an important regional function. The local markets are held here and several aid organizations have their offices here. The city and the region are known for the extreme droughts that may occur here causing famine. Most people who live in rural areas come to Wajir in the hope to find food aid and water. Population figures may rapidly change because of this.
Wajir has a warm steppe climate with many warm days. The figures below are an average for the past 30 years, so deviations may occur. The region may experience periods with extreme drought and may record not a single drop of rain for years. On average, nights are 10 degrees Celsius colder than days. Chances of precipitation are highest in April.
