The climate of Tôlanaro (Madagascar)
Tôlanaro is located in the southeastern part of Madagascar in the province of Tôlanaro of which it also is the capital. During French colonial times the city was known as Fort Dauphin. Andohahela National Park is in the vicinity of this port. The city is not very popular among tourists because of the craggy coastline and beaches and it is not safe to go swimming. The city can best be reached by air; a road was constructed to the city that is quite well passable.
Tôlanaro has a tropical rainforest climate with high precipitation figures. Temperatures are pleasant all year round; colder periods are uncommon. During the local winter nights may be cold compared to daytime temperatures. Although the sea water is a few degrees colder than on the other side of the island the temperature of the water is still very pleasant. There is a risk of tropical storms and hurricanes.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
