The climate of Dawei (Myanmar)
Dawei is located in the southern part of Myanmar on the Dawei River. During its history Dawei was part of various kingdoms. The city was only recently connected with the rest of the country by railways and roads. The port is still in development and is getting increasingly bigger. From here rubber, teak and all kinds of fruit are exported as well as the famous Dawei costume, the Longyi. This is a sarong-like nether garment which is produced in this region. Dawei has a tropical monsoon climate characterized by a distinct wet and a distinct dry period. Most rain falls during the summer in the form of heavy tropical showers. Temperatures are well above 18 degrees Celsius (64.4 degrees Fahrenheit) all year round.
