The climate of Vaals (the Netherlands)
Vaals is a small town located in the municipality of Vaals at the foot of the Vaalserberg (Mount Vaals) in the southern part of the province of Limburg. The place where the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet, the so-called “Drielandenpunt” , is located on top of the Vaalserberg. Two watchtowers can be found here: the King Boudewijn Tower in the Belgian part and the Queen Wilhelmina Tower in the Dutch part. Until Saba became a Dutch municipality the Vaalserberg was the highest point of the Netherlands at 322.7 meters. However, it is still the highest point of the Dutch mainland. Vaals has a moderate maritime climate influenced by the warm Gulf Stream. Because Vaals is located in the southern part of the country temperatures are slightly higher here than in the more northerly located places. Precipitation is evenly spread out over the year. During the winter periods with subzero temperatures (during the night) are not uncommon.

Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
