The climate of Bergen (Norway)
Bergen is located on the By Fjorden in the southern part of Norway. Bergen is the second largest city in Norway. Several cultural attractions can be found in the city such as the home of Edvard Grieg and the beautiful harbor. The harbor is especially well worth visiting during sunset. The sun’s rays shine beautifully on the old houses then. Bergen is also a popular starting point for visiting the fjords. Bergen is the starting and terminal point for the ‘Hurtigruten’ which is a navigational route along the coast of Norway. Bergen has a wet climate. Precipitation figures are so high here that several umbrella vending machines have been placed in the city. An annual rain festival is held in Bergen with an umbrella parade. Despite the rain temperatures are mild in Bergen. Because of the influence of the warm Atlantic Gulf Stream it remains fairly warm in the city. Even during the winter temperatures only drop a few degrees below zero.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
