The climate of Praia de Rocha (Portugal)
Praia de Rocha is a holiday resort which was founded in the 19th century. Praia de Rocha is located in the municipality of Portimão in the southwestern part of the Algarve. Most tourists come here to enjoy the sun, the sea and the beautiful beaches. Just outside the Santa Catarina fortress can be found which was built at the beginning of the 17th century. Since several years a big international beach soccer tournament is held here.
Praia de Rocha has a warm Mediterranean climate with pleasantly warm summers and cold but not too cold winters. During the summer temperatures are just below 30 degrees Celsius on average. The climate of Praia de Rocha is strongly influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Because of this influence extremes in weather are uncommon. Most precipitation falls during the winter; summers are extremely dry.
