The climate of Sintra (Portugal)
Sintra is located in the Costa Lisboa region in the vicinity of the capital Lisbon. Sintra is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Portugal. Several of the most beautiful buildings in Portugal can be found here. The Quelez Palace with its baroque and rococo architectural style was the residence of the Portuguese Royal Family. The Palácio da Pena was built on the remains of a Hieronymite monastery and has many different building styles. Especially the large diversity in towers is very unique. The Sintra palace and Castelo dos Mouros, a Moor castle, can also be found here. All of these buildings are Unesco world heritage sites.
Just like large parts of Portugal Sintra has a warm maritime climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Because of this influence extremes in weather are uncommon. Almost all precipitation falls during the winter, summers are extremely dry. During the summer daytime temperatures are just below 30 degrees on average.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
