The climate of Yanbu (Saudi Arabia)
Yanbu’ al Bahr or Yanbu for short is a medium-sized port located in the western part of Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea. Yanbu is located in the province of Mecca. Yanbu is an important transshipment port for crude oil which is supplied to the port via three pipe lines. Outside the port several well preserved coral reefs can be found that are very popular among divers. Yanbu has its own airport and can also be reached by several highways. All of this makes Yanbu economically very important for Saudi Arabia. Yanbu has a desert climate with warm to hot summers and warm winters. The city is very dry, during the largest part of the year hardly any rain falls. Summers are extremely warm with daytime temperatures just below 40 degrees Celsius on average. During the warmest part of the year night time temperatures are around 25 degrees Celsius. Because of the influence of the Red Sea winters are very pleasant, especially nights are much more pleasant than in other parts of the country.
