The climate of Dakar (Senegal)
Dakar is the capital of Senegal. Dakar is located on the west coast of Africa and is mainly known for the annual rally with Dakar as a standard port of call every year from 1978 till 2007. Usually Dakar was the finish of the Paris-Dakar rally. After the 2008 event was cancelled because of a terrorist threat the rally moved to South America in 2009.
Dakar has a warm steppe climate with about 600 millimeters of annual precipitation. All precipitation falls in the form of rain. Most rain falls during the rainy period which is from July till the second part of October. Because Dakar is located on the coast there are fewer differences in temperatures than in the interior.
