The climate of Knysna (South Africa)
Knysna is a small village on South Africa’s south coast in the West-Cape region. Knysna is part of the famous Garden Route. The presence of the Tsitsikamma National reserve is responsible for large tourist numbers. This park offers several beautiful hikes. These hikes take a number of days and are not for the faint-herted, but they are worthwhile. Another historical attraction are the Millwood goldmines. When gold was first found here they caused for a real gold fever in this region.
Knysna has a Mediterranean climate. Most of the rain falls during the winter months. Knysna is located in one of the wettest areas in South Africa. Summers are pleasantly warm with temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius on average. Winters are mild but very wet. The Indian Ocean supplies most of the rain.
