The climate of Polokwane/Pietersburg(South Africa)
Polokwane means ‘safe place’ and used to be known as Pietersburg. Polokwane Game Reserve is in the vicinity of Polokwane. Kruger National Park is located at a distance of 150 kilometers. About 21 different species live in Polokwane Game Reserve. Several hiking trails have been set out. In the Bakone Malapa Northern Sotho open air museum you get a chance to see how the original inhabitants used to live. Polokwane has a steppe climate. This means summers are often very warm. However, temperatures in Polokwane are lower because of the altitude of 1230 meters. During the summer months temperatures are around 20 degrees on average. Polokwane also has a rainy season. Most of the rain falls during the months of December and January. During this period between 400 and 600 millimeters of rain falls
