The climate of Mwanza (Tanzania)
Mwanza is a large city located in the northwestern part of Tanzania on
Lake Victoria. Mwanza is located in the Mwanza province of which it
also is the capital. Mwanza is an ideal starting point to visit the
Serengeti or Rubondo Island National Park. The city is situated at an
altitude of 1,100 meters. Because the city is an ideal starting point
to visit the Serengeti it attracts many tourists and is more
Western-oriented than most cities in Tanzania.
Mwanza has a tropical savannah climate with high precipitation figures
during its local summer. Daytime temperatures are pleasant, just below
30 degrees Celsius 86.0 degrees Fahrenheit). Nights are much cooler,
during the night temperatures are about 20 degrees Celsius (68.0
degrees Fahrenheit).
