The climate of Kodiak (Alaska - United States of America)
Kodiak was bought by the United States in 1867. This region was already inhabited centuries prior to the Common Era by the Inuit who mainly supported themselves by hunting, fishing and the fur trade. Before the Americans bought this region it was colonized by the Russians. Nowadays it is a commercial port which attracts tourists who want to go fishing and hunting.
Because of the influence of the sea there are only few differences in temperatures between summer and winter. During the winter it is much warmer here than in other parts of Alaska. However, because of its location on the sea precipitation figures are high. Most precipitation falls from October till April and in most cases in the form of snow.
