The climate of Sierra Vista (Arizona
- United States of America)
Sierra Vista is a medium-sized city located in the most southern part
of Arizona near the Mexican border. Sierra Vista is located in Cochise
County on the banks of the San Pedro River and is surrounded by
mountains. The highest is the Huachuca mountain range. Miller Peak is
the highest point with an altitude of 2,885 meters. Just outside the
city Fort Huachuca can be found. This has been a military base since
1877 and is one of the biggest employers of the city. Sierra Vista has
a cold steppe climate with most precipitation during the summer. The
highest peaks surrounding the city are covered with snow during the
winter. During the summer temperatures rise above 30 degrees Celsius
(86.0 degrees Fahrenheit). During the summer the sun shines for about
12 hours per day. During the winter subzero temperatures (during the
night) are not uncommon.
