The climate of Aspen (Colorado - United States of America)
Aspen is a small village located centrally in the western part of Colorado in the United States of America. The city is located in Pitkin County in the Rocky Mountains. Four skiing regions can be found in the vicinity of Aspen. The oldest is Aspen Mountain which has 76 pistes and 8 lifts. The Aspen Highlands has 118 pistes with 5 lifts. The Highland Bowl can be found here is as well. Buttermilk Ski Area has 44 pistes with 9 lifts. This area is very suitable for beginners and families. The largest skiing area is Snowmass Ski Area. This area has 88 pistes, the longest is 8.5 kilometers long. The entire are is known as Aspen/Snowmass. This region is known as a very exclusive resort. Aspen has a moderate land climate. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During the winter precipitation falls in the form of powdery snow. Because of low temperatures the snow does not melt for a long period of time. However, eternal snow does not occur here. Because of its location at an altitude average temperatures are low during the summer. During the summer the sun shines exuberantly.
