The climate of Colorado Springs (Colorado - United States of America)
Colorado Springs is a large city located in the central part of the state of Colorado. Colorado Springs is located in El Paso County on the Fountain Creek. Colorado is located on the eastern side of the southern Rocky Mountains in the vicinity of Mount Pikes Peak. Several military bases can be found near the city such as Fort Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, NORAD and Cheyenne Mountain Air Station and the United Air Force Academy. These military bases are the main source of income for the city. The main control station for GPS Satellites can be found here as well. Colorado Springs has a cold steppe climate with one distinct rainy period from April till October. During the rest of the year precipitation figures are very low. Winters may be very cold. Long period with subzero temperatures are not uncommon during the winter. During the summer average temperatures are just below 30 degrees Celsius (86.0 degrees Fahrenheit).
