The climate of Gunnison (Colorado - United States of America)
Gunnison is a village located centrally in Gunnison County in the western part of Colorado. Gunnison is located in the Rocky Mountains on the Gunnison River. Just outside the village Crested Butte Mountain Resort can be found. This winter sports region has 121 pistes and 16 lifts. The longest piste is the Peak to Treasury with a length of 4.2 kilometers (2.5 miles). The villages of Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte are part of this winter sports region. During the summer the Gunnison River attracts many tourists. Gunnison has a moderate continental climate with extremely cold winters. During the winter temperature of -30 degrees Celsius (-22.0 degrees Fahrenheit) or even lower are not uncommon. Summers are pleasantly warm. However, during the summer subzero temperatures during the night are not uncommon. During the winter precipitation falls in the form of snow.
