The climate of Niihau (Hawaii - United States of America)
Niihau is also known as The forbidden Isle. The island is owned by the Robinson family. Because this family wants to preserve the original culture the island is off limits to the public, unless you are specifically invited by the family. The family tries to live in accordance with the original Hawaiian traditions and standards as much as possible. Because there is not much contact with its inhabitants little is known about the island. Niihau has a tropical climate and is located on the windward side of Mount Kaua’i. Because the island is situated at a low altitude there are no differences in temperatures. Precipitation figures are high all year round and precipitation is evenly spread out over the year. During the slightly colder winters precipitation figures may be extremely high.
