The climate of Belleville (Illinois - United States of America)
Belleville is a small city located in the southwestern part of Illinois in the vicinity of the Mississippi River. Belleville is located in St. Clair County. The city was founded at the beginning of the 19th century and flourished during the second part of the 19th century. Mainly Germans settled here. During this period almost the entire population of Belleville consisted of Germans. Many typical German houses can still be found here and the typical Oktoberfest is still held here annually.
Belleville has a warm continental climate. Because of its location in the southern part of the state it is slightly warmer here than in most places in Illinois. During the winter it may be very cold during the night with temperatures far below freezing point. Summers in Belleville are very pleasant with average temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During tornado season there is a risk of tornadoes here.
