The climate of Moline (Illinois
- United States of America)
Moline is a small city located in the northwestern part of Illinois in
Rock Island County. The city is located on the banks of the
Mississippi River which forms the natural border with the state of
Iowa. This region was home to the Sauk and Meskwaki Indians. The first
Europeans settled here during the second part of the 19th century.
Nowadays Moline is an important trade center. The biggest employer in
the city is Deere & Company, better known as John Deere.
Moline has a warm continental climate with cold winters and short but
warm summers. Because Moline is located in the northern part of the
state temperatures are slightly higher here than in other parts of
Illinois. Winters are characterized by long periods with subzero
temperatures. During the winter nights are especially cold here.
Summers are warm to hot. Most precipitation falls during the summer.
