The climate of Indianapolis (Indiana - United States of America)
Indianapolis is located centrally in Indiana and is the capital of this state which is located in the northern part of the United States of America. Indianapolis is mainly known for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where the famous Indy 500 race is held annually in May. Indianapolis has a warm continental climate (type Dfa according to the Köppen climate classification) with warm summers and cool winters. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. On average about 1,000 millimeters of annual precipitation can be recorded. Indianapolis gets 23 days of snowfall per year with about 66 centimeters of snow. Indianapolis gets about 2,400 hours of annual sunshine which is about the national average.
