The climate of Burlington (Iowa - United States of America)
Burlington is a small city located in the southeastern part of Iowa on the banks of the Mississippi River which forms the natural border with the state of Illinois. Burlington is located in Des Moines County. In the Burlington micropolitan area the cities of West Burlington and Middletown are located in Iowa and Gulfport in the state of Illinois. In Burlington Snake Alley can be found which is ‘the crookedest street in the world’. Just outside the city Crapo Park can be found.
Burlington has a warm continental climate with pleasant and long summers and cold winters. During the winter temperatures hardly rise above freezing point. During the winter most precipitation falls in the form of sleet or snow. Summers are pleasantly warm with temperatures reaching tropical values. Burlington is located in Tornado Alley.
