The climate of Gulfport (Mississippi - United States of America)
Gulfport is a large city located in the southern part of the state of Mississippi on the Gulf of Mexico in Harrison County. The United States Navy has a large fleet here. This department of the Navy is known as the Atlantic Fleet Seabees. The city is very popular among tourists. Not for its beautiful white beaches, but for its many floating casinos. The city got hit by hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Gulfport has a warm maritime climate strongly influenced by the Gulf of Mexico. Summers are warm. However, an ever blowing sea wind offers some cooling. Winters are very mild and much warmer than in the more northerly located cities in Mississippi. Precipitation figures are high all year round. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During the second part of the year there is a risk of tropical storms and hurricanes.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
