The climate of Tupelo (Mississippi
- United States of America)
Tupelo is a medium sized city located in the northeastern part of
Mississippi in Lee County. During the civil war a battle took place
here. Prior to this battle the city was known as Gumpond. Elvis
Presley was born in Tupelo. Every year many tourists visit the city to
see where the King spent the first few years of his life. Tupelo
Buffalo Park and Zoo can be found in the city.
Tupelo has a warm maritime climate with warm summers and short but
cold winters. Winters here are slightly colder than in the more
southerly located cities in Mississippi. Subzero temperatures during
the night are not uncommon. Precipitation figures are very high all
year round. Tupelo is located in Tornado Alley, on average 30
tornadoes can be recorded per year.
