The climate of Newark (New Jersey - United States of America)
Newark is located in the northern part of the state of New Jersey near the city of New York. Newark is located in the vicinity of the Hudson River which forms the natural border with the state of New York. Only the city of Jersey City is located between these two cities. Newark is located on the banks of the Passaic River, because of this the city is a port. The cathedral of the Sacred Heart can be found here, which is one of the largest in the United States.
Newark has a wet continental climate with mild to cold winters and warm to hot summers. The Atlantic Ocean has a tempering effect on the climate of Newark. During the summer temperatures may rise up to 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit). In combination with high humidity figures things may get muggy. During fall temperatures rapidly drop, during the winter temperatures drop below freezing point. In January average temperatures are just below freezing point.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
