The climate of Lawton (Oklahoma - United States of America)
Lawton  is a large city located in the southwestern part of Oklahoma in Comanche County. The spot the city was built on used to be home to the Kiowa, Comanche and Apache Indians. Lawton is located at the foot of the Wichita Mountains. Just outside the city three large lakes can be found: Lake Lawtonka, Lake Ellsworth and Lake Elmer Thomas. These lakes attract many water sports enthusiasts. To the northwest Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge can be found.
Lawton has a warm maritime climate with long and warm summers. During the winter subzero temperatures during the night are not uncommon. During the winter precipitation may fall in the form of sleet or snow. May is the wettest month of the year. During tornado season there is a risk of tornadoes here.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
